“The New Yorker commands both the digital and physical canvas, as well as language and sound. The poet-painter-performer, now programmer, has long been interested in the melding of media to communicate her ideas about the world. “ - Darragh Dandurand for VR SCOUT
“I’m a multidisciplinary artist combining and expanding the practices of painting, music, performance, virtual and augmented reality. I create art as a daily physiological necessity and wish for my work to bring joy, comfort, and hope to others as it does for me. Interactive new media components cause viewers to consider more traditional elements in a new light, while painting and sculpture lend their strong history and culture to the new terrain of XR Art. There are inevitably parts of my female and queer identity in my work but that is not my intentional focus. I am ambidextrous with synesthesia working across media as they are inspired and influenced by each other. I prefer to work "stream of conscious" and create in a transcendental state. Art is my light in solitude and friend in darkness. “ - Carrie Able

A working portrait artist by the age of 14, Able’s earliest work focused on realism in the renaissance masters oil technique. However, her oil works of the past 10 years have increasingly danced the line between representative and abstract. The multidisciplinary artist creates directly from the subconscious mind to hand.
